Fishing Expedition
TRIP SUMMARY
7 Days/
6
Nights
Depart:
London Heathrow to Stockholm
Internal flight Stockholm – Ostersund
Return:
Ostersund – Stockholm – Heathrow
Sweden is an
undiscovered gem to some of us,
when it comes to the fishing and the outdoor world - landscape of thousands of miles of pristine
wilderness forest, lakes and rivers.
Sweden was put on the angler’s map not so long
ago, with more remote and far flung parts of the
country becoming accessible thus revealing a
beautiful landscape along with amazing fishing.
With record
catches and epic stories, fishermen are still in awe of what is held
within Sweden's waters to this
day, with some waters still never having been fished.
For the angler encamped at the river’s edge, the
waters are warm and gin clear, with miles and miles
of watery reed beds containing an abundance of
aquatic life.
At the surface you catch a glimpse of the bountiful
supply of food in the fishes' natural larder, from fast
flowing rivers, displaying breathtaking ‘’hatches of
up wing flies and sedges’’, to deep lakes with huge
head of fry and aquatic larvae, ideal for the pike
fisherman, trout enthusiast and the grayling purist.
With our cosy log cabin located at the river’s edge
and with mild summer days and long daylight
hours, this makes the perfect location for a week of
fishing.
Along with the fishing, the option of bush craft
lessons in the evening will teach you the art of
shelter building and also fire lighting, enabling you
to cook your
catch using
fish sticks.
The species
we will encounter:
~ Brown Trout, in the rivers- up to 14Ib +
~ Grayling, rivers and lakes - up to 4Ib +
~ Pike, in the lakes - up to 30Ib +
~ Perch, rivers and lakes - up to 4Ib +
~ Salmon, (seasonal) rivers and lakes - up to 40Ib +

ITINERARY
DAY 1: Travel from the UK to Sweden’s capital
Stockholm, where you then catch an internal flight
taking you one hour north to Östersund. Here you will
be welcomed by your guide for the week.
You will then travel by minibus for approximately one
hour to your base for the week, which is a traditional
log cabin situated in a remote pine forest on the banks of the
River Hårkan. Then it’s time for dinner and a
chance to relax in the sauna or of course go fishing in
the river.

DAY 2:
After breakfast and a safety briefing you will
travel by minibus with your guide a short distance to
your first fishing site. This is a stretch of water at the
southern end of lake Andviken, where the water
bottlenecks into the River Hårkan. The rapids here are
divided by the large Kron-Storön island as well as a
few smaller islands giving varying speed of river flow.
These conditions are ideal for fly or spinner fishing.
In the evening you will travel back to the log cabin for
dinner and a chance to unwind, with an introduction talk to bush craft. (optional)
DAY 3:
Following breakfast, with your guide you will
travel in the minibus to the northern end of Lake
Sandviksjön where tracks through the forest will lead
you to the waters edge. Here the river flows at a
gentler pace with a few secluded small bays, ideal for
pike and trout fishing. With picturesque vistas this is a
great spot to spend the day.
Returning to the cabin for dinner in the evening.
DAY 4: After breakfast, once again you will travel with
your guide to your day’s fishing location. The water’s
here are that of the River Hårkan in the locality of
Lake Lövsjön. Surrounded by forest on both sides this
narrow body of water gently tumbles over boulders
making this secluded spot an excellent place to take
advantage of. Cook your catch over an open fire. That evening
you will return to the cabin for dinner.
DAY 5:
Your final day of fishing is at the northern end
of Lake Lövsjön. Here the river flows over large
boulders with powerful currents. Amazing number of
good catches have been had from this one kilometre
section. Cook on an open fire again, with bush craft
lessons if required. Then returning to the cabin in the
evening.
DAY 6:
Your
final full day is spent in the location of
our log cabin giving you the option to rest, go fishing
or explore the surroundings as you so wish, the choice
is yours. Walk along by the river or follow the tracks
through the forest, go for a swim in the cool waters or
relax in the sauna.
Dinner will be served in the evening at the cabin and
there will be a chance for you and your fellow fishing
friends to reminisce on your fishing exploits in
Sweden.
DAY 7:
Leave the cabin and travel by minibus to
Östersund to catch the internal flight to Stockholm and
finally a connecting flight back to the UK.
