ITINERARY
DAY 1: Travel from UK to Sweden’s capital Stockholm,
and then catch another internal flight to Ostersund. Upon
arrival you will be met by Intrepid Expedition members of
staff, where transport will meet you at the airport and take
you north to a remote location where Intrepid Expeditions is
based for the winter. A hot meal will be waiting at the warm
cosy cabin, all is needed now is to unpack and get some well
deserved sleep..
DAY 2: The
first thing that greets you in the morning is the view from
the cabin. The cabin is basic inside but the view is
priceless. After breakfast a day's cross country skiing will
take
place around the local area, so that you can become familiar
with this type of skiing. Then it is back to the cabin for a
well-earned rest and a good sleep.
DAY 3 - 5:
After breakfast the pulks will be loaded with all the teams'
equipment needed for the next three days. The next three days
will consist of skiing with pulks over various terrains,
across frozen lakes, through coniferous woodlands, set in some
of the best scenery Sweden has to offer, whilst sleeping in a
tent (with burner) at night. (three nights out in total)
Although skiing as part of a team, the team leader/s will be
in contact with the rest of the Intrepid Expeditions team
based back at the cabin.
Snowmobile
support will be at hand, so contact is no more than a radio or
satellite phone call away.
Intrepid
Expeditions only use Fjellpulken pulks from Norway; these have
to be the best
pulks on the market, they are light and glide
along with ease.
DAY 6: Once
we have arrived back at the cabin, all that needs to be done
is to stoke up the hot tub and sauna by the lake under the
stars and rest any aching limbs, whilst doing a spot of ice
fishing - from the comfort of the tub of course.
And then in the evening a meal will be cooked for the group in
the cabin by our Swedish friends.
